Description: Biotechnologically produced protein called TIMP2 (tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2) able to inhibit MMP-2 (matrix metalloproteinases 2) that degrade collagen in the skin. Clear, colorless liquid, pH 7-8. Soluble in water. CAS# 124861-55-8.

INCI Name: Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2.

Properties: Up to 100% collagen protection by potent inhibition of specific skin enzymes (metalloproteinases) that degrade tissue collagen, protects actively from sun damages of the skin & skin aging while maintaining the skin’s natural protein architecture, restores dermal tissue.

Use: Use in formulas as is, usual concentration 1-3 %, to be incorporated into the aqueous phase of a formula, can be processed cold or warm (up to 70oC, 158oF), compatible with up to 30% alcohol.

Application: Mid & longterm anti-aging treatments (creams & lotions), sun care & after-sun products.

Zinc Oxides: Which One is Right for You?
Regular zinc oxide has a particle size of >200 nm (nanometer), a visible whitening effect on the skin, is water dispersible, gives great coverage in makeup products and lip balms, and offers good protection in baby care products.
Micronized zinc oxide has a particle size of <200nm (mean 86nm), has a minimal whitening effect on the skin, is water dispersible, offers superior sun protection but does not offer coverage in makeup products.
Micronized zinc oxide coated with silicone offers basically the same features as non-coated micronized zinc oxide but is easier to disperse in oils, and works well in formulas containing carbomers.
