Inorganic Liquid Colors

Inorganic colors (pigments) are composed of insoluble metallic compounds which are either derived from natural sources (e.g. china clay, carbon deposits) or are synthesized. Based on the composition pigments are divided into iron oxides, zinc oxides, carbon blacks, chromium oxide greens, and ultramarines.
Since inorganic pigments are not considered to be irritant to mucous membranes, they do not require certification as do organic pigments. Inorganic pigments are not water soluble, but can be dispersed in oils. Our liquid inorganic pigments are already pre-dispersed in castor oil and thus ready to use. Importantly, the dispersion is very fine so that there will be no clumping or aggregate formation.

News & Facts
Zinc Oxides: Which One is Right for You?
Regular zinc oxide has a particle size of >200 nm (nanometer), a visible whitening effect on the skin, is water dispersible, gives great coverage in makeup products and lip balms, and offers good protection in baby care products.
Micronized zinc oxide
has a particle size of <200nm (mean 86nm), has a minimal whitening effect on the skin, is water dispersible, offers superior sun protection but does not offer coverage in makeup products.
Micronized zinc oxide coated with silicone offers basically the same features as non-coated micronized zinc oxide but is easier to disperse in oils, and works well in formulas containing carbomers.
