Thick Cleansing Conditioner

 
  Phase A Weight % For 100g / 3.6oz  
  Water (diluent) 82.6% 82.6g / 3.0oz

  Cetearyl Alcohol (emulsifier) 5.0% 5.0g / 0.2oz  
  Conditioner SD (conditioner) 4.0% 4.0g / 0.14oz  
  Squalane (emollient) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Phase C      
  Amodimethicone (emollient) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Rosemary Leaf Extract (botanical) 1.5% 1.5g / 0.05oz  
  Silk Protein (conditioner/film-former) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Lychee Extract (botanical) 1.5% 1.5g / 0.05oz  
  Phase D      
  Peppermint Oil (optional) 0.2% 0.2g / 4 drops  
  Menthol Crystals (optional) 0.2% 0.2g /0.007oz  
  Phenoxyethanol-SA (preservative) 1.0% 1.0g /20 drops  
  Citric Acid (acidulant) q.t.    
         
 
  Method: Add phase A to a clean mixing vessel and heat to150F/65.5C. Add phase B another clean mixing vessel and heat to the same temperature, stir occasionally. Add phase A to phase B and blend well. Remove from the heat. Use a stick blender to give it a good mix and cool to 100F/40C. Add phase C ingredients to phase A/B, blend well. Add phase D to phase A/B/C and blend again well. Test the pH, if above 7 add a small amount of citric acid to lower the pH, to ~6. Mix for a couple minutes before testing the pH again. Optional: add a little bit of D&C red 40 to add a pinkish color (image on the left).

Properties: This cleansing condition improves the health of the hair and reduces frizz. It has a silky soft lather when rinsed off. Hair becomes relaxed has a nice after-feel and can be wet combed easily. Use between shampooing.

 
         
 
         
 

Hair Frizz Taming Serum

 
  Phase A Weight % For 100g / 3.6oz  
  Cyclomethicone (emollient) 91.5% 91.5g / 3.3oz  
  PEG-8 Dimethicone (emulsifier) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  OM-Cinnamate (UV absorbent) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Squalane (emollient) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Phase B      
  Keratin Protein (conditioner/film-former) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Silk Protein (conditioner/film-former) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Fragrance (Pineapple Lilly) 0.5% 0.5g / 12 drops  
         
 
  Method: Add phase A, one by one, to a clean mixing vessel and blend well. Add phase B to phase A and blend well. Fill into appropriate containers.

Properties: Rub a pea size in the palms of your hands and work it into hair. Repeat if needed.

 
         
 
         
 

Simple Hair Conditioner for Sensitive Skin

  Glycerin (humectant) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz

  Cetearyl Alcohol (emulsifier) 4.0% 4.0g / 0.14oz  
  Isoeicosane (emollient) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Conditioner SD (conditioner) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Ceteareth-20 (emulsifier) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Phase C      
  Provitamin B5 (active ingredient) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Caprylyl Glycol EHG (antimicrobial agent) 1.2% 1.2g / 0.04oz  
  Citric Acid (acidulant) q.t    
         
 
  Method: Add phase A to a clean mixing vessel, blend well and heat to 65C/150F. Add phase B to another clean mixing vessel and heat to the same temperature. Add phase A to phase B and blend well. Remove from the heat source. Use a stick blender or homogenizer to blend well. Cool to room temperature. Add phase C one by one and blend well. Test pH and adjust to pH 5.5-6.5 with citric acid, stir for 1-2 minute before re-testing the pH, repeat if necessary. Fill into appropriate containers.

Properties: A simple but effective hair conditioner that does not build up. It’s free of many ingredients that may cause skin sensitivities in some individuals and it’s also fragrance free. Apply to damp hair leave-in for 1-2 minutes and rise out.

 
         
 
         
 

Hair Repair Mask

  Cetyl Palmitate (emollient) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Behentrimonium Chloride (conditioner) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Conditioner SD (conditioner) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Polysorbate-60 (emulsifier) 0.5% 0.5g / 0.02oz  
  Olive Oil (emollient) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Macadamia Nut Oil (emollient) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Squalane (emollient) 1.0% 1.0g / 0.04oz  
  Phase C

  Rhodiola HairActive (botanical) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Bamboo Extract (botanical) 2.0% 2.0g / 0.07oz  
  Provitamin B5 (active ingredient) 0.5% 0.5g / 0.02oz  
  Phenoxyethanol-SA (preservative) 1.5% 1.5g / 0.05oz  
  Fragrance (optional) 0.4% 0.4g / 0.015oz

  Method: In a heat resistant vessel combine phase A ingredients, stir, and heat to 170F/65C. Combine phase B ingredients in another heat resistant vessel and heat to the same temperature. Add phase A to phase B and blend well. Remove from the heat source. Use a homogenizer or stick blender and mix thoroughly. Cool to 100F/40C. Add phase C ingredients to phase A/B and stir well between ingredients. Measure the pH of the cream and adjust to pH 5.5-6.5 with citric acid. Stir well for one minute before re-measuring the pH. Repeat if necessary. Fill jars.

Properties: Apply to damp hair and have it soaked into the hair for several minutes. Enriched with rhodiola, bamboo, provitamin B5, squalane, macadamia and olive to nourish & strengthen the hair.
