Description: Red & sour tart sugar found in ripe, red raspberries & also in other red berries; for cosmetics erythrulose is produced biotechnologically. Activity: erythrulose reacts with amino groups of keratin in the skin leading to brownish polymers (melanoids) especially with dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Clear, yellowish & viscous liquid. CAS# 533-50-6.

INCI Name: D-erythrulose.

Properties: Self-tanning agent producing together with DHA a natural, deep & even tan without stripes (DHA alone may create an orange tone & stripes), it prolongs the tan & leaves the skin less dry, tanning effect appears only in 2-3 days (DHA in 2-6 hours).

Use: Can be added to formulas as is, usual concentration: 2-8 %, depending on intensity desired, 2-5% for face, higher for whole body.

Application: Self-tanning creams & lotions (with DHA), cream foundations and bronzing creams (alone).
