Zinc Oxide

Description: Produced from naturally occurring zinc ore, super purity (free from other metals). Cosmetic grade (particle size <1000 nm). Fine white powder, odorless. Insoluble but dispersible in water, oils & triglycerides. CAS# 1314-13-2.

INCI Name: Zinc oxide.

Properties: Absorber of the full UV spectrum of sun rays (short UVB to long UVA), soothing effects (widely used against skin irritations), anti-fungal properties.

Use: Can be added to formulas as is, recommended concentration: 5-25% (10% corresponds to a SPF of about 6-11). Maximum allowed: USA 25%, Japan no limit. Can be combined with other sun screens & pigments.

Applications: Sun care & after-sun products, protective & soothing skin care products, mineral makeup.

Liposomes Enhance Strength of Coenzyme Q10

CoQ10 comes either in powder form or, more sophisticated, encapsulated in liposomes (usually phospholipid nano-emulsion loaded with 10% vitamin E). CoQ10 packed in liposomes is much more stable, maintains its activity, and enhances skin penetration significantly. Therefore, liposome-encapsulation largely reduces the amount of Q10 required for effectivness as compared to non-encapsulated pure CoQ10 in powder form.
