Description: Highly purified watermelon extract (citrullus lanatus). Watermelon plants have their own defense system by producing solutes that protect the cells against drought, heat & UV-rays by a DNA-protecting mechanism. Clear yellowish liquid, faint odor. Soluble in water. CAS# pending.

Properties: Protects skin cells (keratinocytes & fibroblasts) against daily stress induced by UV light & free radicals, reduces the break-down of DNA in human skin cells. In vivo tests on humans have shown that watermelon extract protects the DNA up to 25%. Reduces erythema after UV irradiation.

Use: Add to formulas as is at < 40oC/100oF. Typical use level 1-3%.

Application: Pre-sun products, body lotions, day and night care, additive in sun creams. For external use only.
