We don't recommend to combine l-ascorbic acid and vitamin B3. When L-ascorbic acid and niacinamide are mixed together in aqueous solutions (both are water-soluble vitamins), they form a 1:1 complex whereby both compounds lose their activity and the solution turns yellow. This complex formation occurs primarily at low pH ranges (ph 3-4) which is also the level of many vitamin C serums as L-ascorbic acid is absorbed into the skin primarily at this ph level. However, niacinamide can be combined with other vitamin C forms like Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate without the risk of activity loss.
