Description: Multifunctional anionic rheology modifier (polyacrylate polymer) that can be used to emulsify and stabilize high levels of oils and silicones. Gives oil-in-water emulsions. White, slightly viscous liquid. 50-55% active content. pH: 5.8-6.2 (1% aqueous gel).
CAS: 9003-04-7, 92044-87-6, 642443-86-5, 9005-64-5
INCI Name: Sodium polyacrylate, ethylhexyl cocoate, PPG-3 benzyl ether myristate, polysorbate 20
Benefits:
- Excellent thickener as it thickens up to 65,000 cPs at only 2% concentration
- Auto-emulsifies up to 30% oils or silicones
- Creates viscous creams at low inclusion levels
- Leaves a smooth, silky, silicone-like feel to the skin
- Particularly suited for the stabilization of formulas containing silicones
Use: Typical use level 0.5-3%. Can be added at any stage during the manufacture of both hot or cold formulas. Thickening occurs within seconds and homogeneity of the formulation is reached within minutes forming a stable emulsion. For external use only.
Applications: Gel-creams, emulsion-gels, cold emulsions, lotions, creams, skin-whitening /self-tanning products, sun care & baby care products, mascara, foundations.
Country of Origin: USA
Raw material source: Acrylic acid, sodium hydroxide
Manufacture: The main ingredient, sodium polyacrylate, is produced by neutralizing acrylic acid with sodium hydroxide yielding a solution of sodium acrylate monomers which is subsequently polymerized to sodium polyacrylate. The polymer is then combined with 3 emollients/emulsifiers to create a proprietary blend.
Animal Testing: Not animal tested
